Stunning animated works of Dutch artist, writer and kinetic sculptor Theo Jansen. Born in Hague, The Netherlands(1948), Jansen studied Physics at the University of Delft (The Netherlands 1968-1975), then left the university to become an artist and made paintings for the first 7 years.

Back in the 80’s, Jansen made a commotion in Delft when he built a flying saucer like object complete with 15 ft flashing lights and beeping sounds that flew over the town. He also built a light sensitive paint spray-gun.

The IQ Font created by two font designers, Pierre and Damien of Pleaseletmedesign in collaboration with the pro race pilot Stef van Campenhoudt, to design a font by using an IQ car by Toyota.

The car movements were captured by the hanging camera, then send to the computer that has a customized software.

The software, design by software developer Zachary Lieberman of openframeworks will figure out where the color dots are and tracked the dots that attached to the car, then output the result of the tracking.

Amazing Photogram by Robert Buelteman. Photogram is a form of photography but instead of using a camera he used high voltage, high frequency electricity. Photogram is based on Kirlian Photography, a popular technique in contact photography during the 30’s.

Buelteman’s process is refined but very risky. The flowers and leaves are taken without the camera but instead placed it directly into the color transparency film or photographic paper and covers with a diffusion screen, for more details. Then placed all of them in a sheet metal that floating in a liquid silicon which is squeezed between Plexiglass. And then shocks them with 80,000 volts that created the corona discharge around the subject.
