metalpig turns 1 year

Yay, Metalpig turns 1 year old! Thanks to all of you my dear readers!
For visitors of this blog, were some of them had became my online friends and also those first time visitors who are just browsing and then leave as quick as they arrived, and not even posted any comment… Thank you! Btw, that excludes the spammers of course, who are more than happy to add their out-of-this-world comments with tons of links. =)

And yeah, I know that this blog needs a regular updates, but believe me I also need to balance my work. I have a 9-5 job plus some freelancing. So, I need an extra time especially that I have a family now, and that also means I need to double my income. All my needs need to be doubled. It sounds weird, but I think I posted lots of needs above. =)

There’s a point that I’m thinking to abandon this blog or just stop writing, but when I’m browsing on the net and stumbled on some awesome stuff, I’d become inspired again and said to myself, I need to post this one, people needs to see this, this is so wickedly awesome work that needs to be shared. So, how can I stop posting if there’s a lot of creative stuff around? really, ’nuff of that epic.

What I really really need to do is update this blog, even if just twice or once a week… if not now, well… maybe next year! Just don’t forget to click the RSS and subscribe, or just bookmark this site. =)

LAS VEGAS (AP – Filipino icon Manny ‘Pacman’ Pacquiao stopped his opponent, Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto during their match dubbed as ‘Firepower’ to capture the WBO Welterweight title.

Pacman‘s speed and power were way too much for Miguel Cotto, who knocked down twice during 3rd and 4th round before finally stopping him at 55 seconds of the 12th round.

Pacquiao is the only boxer who had 7 titles of different divisions under his belt and voted as No. 1 pound-for-pound boxer in the world by Ring Magazine.

He was so dominant in the later rounds that Cotto was fighting backward most of the way, simply trying to survive. Pacquiao was credited with landing almost twice as many punches, Pacquiao 336 while Cotto 172.

Congratulations Pacman, for winning the WBO Welterweight title!

Stunning animated works of Dutch artist, writer and kinetic sculptor Theo Jansen. Born in Hague, The Netherlands(1948), Jansen studied Physics at the University of Delft (The Netherlands 1968-1975), then left the university to become an artist and made paintings for the first 7 years.

Back in the 80′s, Jansen made a commotion in Delft when he built a flying saucer like object complete with 15 ft flashing lights and beeping sounds that flew over the town. He also built a light sensitive paint spray-gun.

The IQ Font created by two font designers, Pierre and Damien of Pleaseletmedesign in collaboration with the pro race pilot Stef van Campenhoudt, to design a font by using an IQ car by Toyota.

The car movements were captured by the hanging camera, then send to the computer that has a customized software.

The software, design by software developer Zachary Lieberman of openframeworks will figure out where the color dots are and tracked the dots that attached to the car, then output the result of the tracking.

Amazing Photogram by Robert Buelteman. Photogram is a form of photography but instead of using a camera he used high voltage, high frequency electricity. Photogram is based on Kirlian Photography, a popular technique in contact photography during the 30′s.

Buelteman’s process is refined but very risky. The flowers and leaves are taken without the camera but instead placed it directly into the color transparency film or photographic paper and covers with a diffusion screen, for more details. Then placed all of them in a sheet metal that floating in a liquid silicon which is squeezed between Plexiglass. And then shocks them with 80,000 volts that created the corona discharge around the subject.
